Just some things that have made their way through my mind…
I’m really enjoying The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty. I’m glad the family has allowed us to get to know them as people. Marlon seems so even tempered and down to earth, not to mention he’s a cut up. He lives here in the Atlanta area, and I would love to get to meet him. Maybe I’ll run into him somewhere. Jackie clearly enjoys being the eldest brother and having the clout that comes with that. I like that he isn’t afraid to take on Jermaine.
Tito… hmm… what can I say about Tito? I looove his swagger! Tito is just cool as hell without even trying. The man is 56 years old, but I’d get with him. Damn, I feel traitorous (and somewhat skanky) because I think his son Taryll is HOT as all hell, and I’d get with him too, LOL. My only issue with Tito is that I think his girlfriend is fugly. He could do so much better than her. I ain’t sayin’ that’s me, at all. I’m just sayin’ the chick is funny looking and he’s TITO JACKSON and can do so much better. Where is RANDY? I know he wasn’t in the J5, but he was in The Jacksons in their later years. He should be included. However, I understand there may be some unresolved issues, and bad blood, between him and Jermaine.
So far, the only two people I’m not really feeling are Jermaine and Siggie. Jermaine’s uber-sensitive, conceited, selfish, prima donna ass is always complaining about something, and I’m trippin’ on Siggie for wanting to rap. I mean, seriously?! What is ‘Dealz’ going to rap about? Being a rich kid and never wanting for anything? Rap is about STRUGGLE (or at least it used to be). What has Siggie/Dealz had to overcome? Is he a ‘conscious’ rapper (which would be very cool)? Or, is he another rapper lauding the virtues of hedonism and excess? Whatev, Sigmund, Jr.
Last thing about the Jackson family… Why is it we hear about all these Jackson offspring trying to get into the entertainment industry, but hear nothing about any who have focused on higher education instead? This family should have some lawyers, doctors, professors, etc by now.
Hello! I am enjoying the show as well. I can admit that it started off pretty slow, and that actually is a blessing in disquise – the Jacksons are apparently not the “how fast can we spend Mikes Money” I’m a party animal that so happen to be able to stay out the press type people. Apparently they don’t have the type of clout folks are assuming OR more of thier singing and dancing aspiring children would be heard from by now. They are the first “Black” Family of Motown and R&B and that’s that.
Those of us that are pre-Thriller fans (which was the time period when everyone jumped on Mikes jock) have always liked the Brothers as a whole. I enjoy this because I am a fan and though I have kept up with them – it’s nice to see that (1) they have aged really well and (2) they are actually in the big scheme of things not as dysfunctional. There are no drugs – they got womanizing problems but what’s new about that?
Randy decided (as he stated on his twitter acct and elsewhere) that he didn’t want to participate because he is immensely private this was BEFORE Mike passed, then after his death he chose not to grieve in the public eye. The below board reason is that yes he and Jermaine have tension about Jermaine bedding and fathering two children by the mother of his children. I’m passing out 50-50 skank tickets on that one – what was SHE thinking!?
Anyhoo – I am trying to keep from licking the screen when Jackie comes on (he’s now officially my muse) and just enjoy that I have an opportunity to see them.
As for who is pimping who? The show had episodes and was presented all around and nobody picked it up. Then Mike dies and A&E came to THEM! Asked them to tape other episodes surrounding Mikes death etc. So who saw dollar signs? I believe that if Mike hadn’t of passed – this would have ended up in BET or TV One and nobody would have anything to say. Are they not suppose to mention Mike and act like they are not grieving. Are we really suppose to believe that Mike didn’t recognize and understand that as part of his success was the burden of caring for his siblings? Come on now people. Mike was buried WITHOUT all his fame and fortune or money – his children wouldn’t be able to spend it all in two lifetimes. His Grandkids and Great Grandkids are taken care of. You think he didn’t know that by bequeathing his fortune to his MOTHER that he wasn’t taking care of his family?

On your last paragraph… why you fussin’ at me, Pam? LOL. I’m not on the “they tryin’ to pimp Mike’s death” bandwagon. I’m all for the show, and the brothers, and HELL YES MJ knew he’d be taking care of his family by leaving a major portion of his estate to his mom! I couldn’t even hit the lottery for millions, or even hundreds of thousands, and not try to help family out. That’s not our way as a people and culture, family beefs or not.
I think we haven’t heard from more of their children because they may be making them work and pay their dues, and most of all be up to the Jackson standard first. Tito worked with 3T and had them playing gigs in Europe before presenting them to us here in the USA. Siggie said on the pilot episode that he had to get his mostly on his own, because Jackie was so busy. I don’t get the feeling they are going to do like Rev. Run and make one phone call to get their kids instantly established, with street cred and all.
The BROTHERS is what made me go Motown crazy when at about 5 or 6 years old, my mom told me that Motown started and used to be in Detroit (where we were living at that time) and showed me the old Motown building on Woodward Avenue, just a mile or so down the street from where we lived. I knew all the hot singers of the day were mostly on Motown, because all the records we had had the old purple Motown label (LOL), so that was all I needed to know. It was Motown all the way for me, and if you’d have asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up, my answer would have been “I wanna be a singer, and sing for MO-town!”, LOL. Remember, I was just 5 or 6, hehe. The Jackson 5 and the Jacksons are what kicked off my LOVE and later passion for music.
The Jermaine and Randy situation is so utterly sad to me. At first, I was like how could Jermaine do something like that? But, seeing the depths of Jermaine’s conceit and selfishness (I wonder how much of his egotism got edited out), I can totally see how he could. And, that woman should be ashamed to the depths of her soul. On Blackvoices, they’ve dubbed her Alejandraho, and Jermaine has been renamed Jermessy, Jergreasy, and Jer-Ego (among close to 2 dozen other unflattering nicknames). After his walk on water, “perfection” moment from the last episode, I’ve dubbed him Jerhova (a play on Jehovah).
Are you feeling that ‘Saturday Night’ song as much as I am? That’s going to be HOT. So far, the two songs they’ve worked on sound good, but that ‘Saturday Night’ song is sooo catchy and danceable. I can’t wait for the album, and I hope that after this they keep recording and have a renaissance like the Temptations, Barry White, Charlie Wilson, Gladys Knight & The Pips, and (I think) The Whispers did.

Okay, LOL. Cuz, I was like (channeling Madea) “What I do?”
I thought I was the only one who has it BAD for Tito! LOL I see that you do, as well, but we’d never have a chance with him, as Tito Jackson (like the other brothers) is quite color-struck. All of his girlfriends have been non-black, just like his wife. I’m a black woman, and he would never give us the time of day. Still, I don’t care that he’s old enough to be my daddy…he is hot. He’s easily the sexiest man walking earth right now.
I wasn’t aware that Marlon lived in GA. I must not be a real fan of his if I didn’t know he was a resident of my state. LOL.
Glad to know I’m not the ONLY one with a mad crush on Tito. I have it bad for him. I don’t care that he’s like, sixty years old and old enough to be my dad. He is just fine, sexy, got that mean swag going…but you should know that women like me and you (black) would never have a chance with him. Like the rest of the Jackson brothers, Tito is quite color struck and would NEVER date or “get with” a black woman. I’m afraid we just have to admire his sexy ass from afar.
I wasn’t aware that Marlon was a resident of our great state of Georgia. I must not be a big fan of his, since I didn’t know that. LOL.
